    • Standalone with MySQL backend on a Windows server 2003. JDK j2sdk 1.4.2_10.
Clients are using Windows 2K with IE6.

Symptoms: the list of "Recently Updated" items stops being automatically updated
This seems to be caused by a reindexing problem
      Detailed explanations: attached powerpoint
Solution: the only solution at this point is to reset the server (not only the service) - this is painful and needs to get solved.

I have found 2 related points:
      http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-6857
      http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-6985

But we don't have the scripting macro.

[CONFSERVER-9871] Index Queue failing to flush automatically.

            Hi all,

If you're using a version of Confluence prior to 2.6, then upgrading to 2.6 may solve the problem, if it is caused by the indexing system choking on a particular document. See CONF-8580 and CONF-8608.

If the problem there is not a particular document causing the problem, then it is probably CONF-9575, which have not yet addressed, but which you should vote for and watch, rather than this issue (CONF-9871). CONF-9871 is closed as a duplicate.

If you have already asked support about this issue and they have sent you to this issue, or CONF-9575, then there is, unfortunately, little else to do.
If you have not already asked support about this issue, please do so. You may be experiencing a simpler issue (similar to CONF-8580), which may show up in your logs, rather than the wilier CONF-9575.

            Cheers,
            Don

...and before you ask, I know the solution doesn't look to be related to the problem but it worked for us.

            Hello,

A solution has been proposed by Atlassian: http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-8580. This solution has been implemented in my company. The problem has not been reproduced since then.

            Hope it helps you too

So what to do, we suffer from the very same problem here? Queue for content indexing gets not flushed automatically and recently-updated list gets not updated any more.

            We are using

            • Confluence 2.8.1
            • Java 1.5.0_04-b05
            • Windows 2003 5.2
            • SQLServer 2000 SP4

The only additionally installed plugin is the Metadata plugin 2. We are currently setting up our confluence instance so we do not have lots of pages yet and only two persons performing content-changes.

Ditto. We have this problem occuring roughly once a month, logged it as a support issue, and CONF-9575 was raised as a result, but at no point has anyone given us any workarounds, short of bouncing the server. It is a source of much annoyance for us. We have never seen anything relevant in log files and neither did the support team. And to make matters worse, the most recent instance of the problem (yesterday) seems to have stopped the mail queue flushing in Confluence as well.

We don't have the scripting plugin installed either.

I am experiencing the same problem. My queue doesn't seem to be getting flushed automatically. I'm on Confluence v2.7.2.

I can't seem to access CSP-12952... says I need a different password. Can you paste some of the workarounds here?

            Hi Christian.

I believe this is actually a support case and not a new defect. Your problem has been raised before and we have some known work arounds.

I'll close this issue and put some additional comments on CSP-12952.

            Cheers.

            Thank you Paul,

I have opened an issue at:

The log and the list of our plugins are attached there.

            Thank you

Hi there, and thank you for your comprehensive walk-through of the problem.
To clarify, I think you are basically saying that the index queue is not flushing automatically. However, when you manually invoke it everything is fine.
To cause the automatic flushing to occur you are having to restart the server. Is that all correct?

We really need to see your server logs from around the time when you notice that the index queue has stopped flushing to try and get an idea of what is preventing the index flush job from running.

In addition, a list of your installed plugins would also be helpful.

            Thanks.
