With the move of the search index from Lucene to OpenSearch, some customers expressed that they would also like to see the option to use Elasticsearch.

This is because they consider Elasticsearch to perform better or use fewer computing resources for the same tasks.

It could be an option to select between Lucene, OpenSearch and Elasticsearch.
When selecting Elasticsearch, there should be an option to set a prefix to allow the usage of the same Elasticsearch cluster for multiple instances or different (Atlassian) applications. This saves resources when Elasticsearch is clustered for high availability.
