Macro name is not announced by screen reader while editing

XMLWordPrintable

    Issue Summary

Macro name is not announced by screen reader while editing the page.

    Steps to Reproduce

    1. Navigate to a page in confluence.
    2. Click on edit button.
    3. Add macros such as "Note", "Info", "tip", etc.
    4. With screen reader navigate within the macro in editor.
    5. Observe that the screen reader doesn’t announce the macro name when cursor is inside a particular macro

    Actual Results

When macros such as "Note", "Info", "tip", etc are added inside the editor and when screen reader user navigate through the macros in editor area, when the cursor moves to text inside the macro, the macro name is not announced.

This makes it difficult for screen reader users to understand which macro is currently focused out of multiple macros in editor area.

Note: There are multiple other macros which have same problem hence it should be fixed for all such macros.

    Expected Results

When a text inside a particular macro receives keyboard cursor focus the screen reader should announce the macro name. This will help screen reader users to understand the currently focused macro.

For example: when "note" macro receives keyboard cursor focus, then the screen reader should announce "Note, this is a WIP".

ARIA live region can be used to announce the messages.

    Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
