The newer implementation (ie: after 2.6-dr1) or the RSS feeds contains formatted HTML in the summary [see: http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-9197].
This summary requires access to confluence's CSS to be able to display the summary correctly.
Originally we had implemented this to include the CSS embedded in each summary. This caused the feeds to be too big and replaced it with a link back to confluence to retrieve the CSS.
The problems with this:
- Not all readers appear to support external CSS
- Some readers don't seam to support CSS at all
- The html looks real bad without CSS
