The root cause of the defect CONF-9179 was that the pom was applying resource filtering to a gif. This led to a jar being built that contained a corrupt image file.

On Mac OS X this filtering has no affect on binary files. However on Windows it is a problem. I'm not sure about Linux but presumably being a *nix it also isn't a problem.

Therefore until we have a standard (non-Windows) build machine we need to protect ourselves by fixing such pom's.

The leftnavigation theme is definitely affected, however it would also be worth checking across all our builds for safety.
