Issue Summary

On the "Editing a page" page, the dynamically updating list of suggestions are not programmatically determined.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Navigate onto the above mentioned page.
2. Navigate onto the rich text editor and type "[" or ":" or "{" or "/"
3. Observe that a list of suggestions get dynamically updated below.
4. Observe that this update is not programmatically communicated.
5. Observe that the focus is not moved or a new page is not loaded.

Actual Results

When any special character such as "[" or ":" or "{" or "/" is entered in the rich text editor, a list of suggestions get updated below. This update is not programmatically indicated to the users of a screen reader. That the dynamically updating suggestions are not announced may confuse or mislead them.

Expected Results

Status messages must be programmatically communicated.

To achieve this, use a polite live region, such as role=“status”, and aria-atomic=”true” to make sure that the entire text node is always announced.

In this scenario, make sure that when the characters such as "[", ":" and so on, are typed, a message such as "suggestions are available. Press the down arrow key to access the list of suggestions" should be communicated.

Note: To work correctly, make sure that you have an empty container on page load and then populate this container when these character are typed.

Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
