Add ability to configure default space permissions in spaces/createspace-start.action

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

We would like to be able to have "Registered users - anyone logged into Confluence" unchecked under both "Choose who can view and comment on content:" and "Choose who can contribute (create and edit) content:" by default on spaces/createspace-start.action.

It would be really nice to either set a properties file that allows you to configure what these defaults would be, or to have a another level of admin configuration in confluence UI that lets you set the default values of these flags.

Our admins are accidentally creating spaces that anyone can edit, which is in the spirit of collaboration, but is against the policies here.

[CONFSERVER-9064] Add ability to configure default space permissions in spaces/createspace-start.action

As pointed out above, this is a duplicate of CONF-2559. Please vote for that issue instead.

We want this too! We have clients accessing parts of our wiki, so the default confluence user setup is definitely not good for us. It would be very useful for me to be able to configure this manually.

Until this feature is added to Confluence don't forget that the Community Bubbles plugin is now free and allows you to define default permission schemes for spaces.

Seems like this is a duplicate of CONF-2559, which has been around since January '05.

Adding another vote to the chorus. The default space permissions are just wrong for us, and so we have to remember to edit the space permissions every time we create a new space.

In particular, we would like permission for removal of pages, news, and attachments to be OFF by default.

Also, it is odd that Export Space is ON by default, while Export Pages is OFF.

We need this function too! In particular, we would like to default view rights to be set to 'Me only' when a new space is created

            I need this function!!

Is vital to better organize users group with external management.

And you should restrict deleting "confluence-user" group is this functionality is not implement. All new projects add a group that not exist!

Not sure if this helps but the Community Bubbles plugin from Adaptavist allows you to define default permissions that are applied to communities when they are created.

            Cheers

I'm surprised to see how many people ask to have the way to change default permissions of the newly created spaces and noone answers them.

I'm a new Confluence user, or, in fact, admin.
I connected the Confluence installation to get users from our Active Directory. All work fine, except for the new spaces creation. When any user creates a space, only he can see the space.
The new space is created with only confluence-users group permission to see it. So in order to show the space to the users, the creator or admin should set the permissions manually - for all groups needed to access it. And then repeat the same for all other spaces in the company...

The best way to do the job finished is to define a set of customizable default permissions for the newly created spaces. Is it possible?

We are concerned that our users are creating spaces and not intending for them to be accessed by all confluence-users. If the default could be configured i the UI this would resolve our immediate issue
