Regression - PDF Attachments - CID Font Preview does not work after upgrade

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

Users are not able to preview pdf attachments on the page that contains content in CID fonts. This was working as expected in v7.13. After upgrading to v7.19, the pdf preview for files with CID fonts does not work.

      User Case:
Users generate PDFs from Apple/ Mac devices that contain CID fonts and are attached to the Confluence page.

This is reproducible on Data Center: yes

Reproducible on v7.19. The Preview still works fine on v7.13.x

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a new Page.
      2. Attach the file to the page.
        • Sample Files are attached. It contains a mix of True Type and CID fonts.
          • AppleSDGothic Font (CID).
          • HiraginoKaku Font (CID).
      3. Preview the file on the page.

      Expected Result:
The PDF preview shows/displays all text in the file including text with font with type CID.

      Actual Result:
The Non-CID font text shows fine. The CID font text is not displayed. Instead, the space is Blank.

      Notes:

      • The thumbnail still shows the CID fonts correctly.
      • All required fonts are installed.
      • conversion font path system property is set in setenv.sh file.

      Workaround.

Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.

There is already a feature request - CONFSERVER-58258 for this one. However, this is a bug as it worked on one version and then it stopped working. Hence raising a Bug ticket.
