Selecting a heading style in the RTE then typing doesn't put the cursor in the right place

I've attached 4 screen shots to show the problem.

I feel it is not intuitive how the paragraph styles are applied when using the rich text editor.

Basically the problem is that when you select a paragraph heading from the box, it will display the formatted heading but this will be in the paragraph AFTER the current cursor location. So when you begin typing you end up still typing in the old paragraph style and not in the new heading paragraph style.

In Word, if you select a new style it is applied to wherever the current cursor location is.

Closing issue as no longer valid from 2.10.

Parts of this issue were fixed for 2.10 (by the TinyMCE upgrade), however different problems now exist: CONF-13775, CONF-12980

Unfortunately, I do not think we can fit a better fix for this into 2.10

            This is not fixed correctly.

When a heading style is selected, it will apply to two different lines on the page.

            To see this:

            • add new page in RTE
            • apply style 'Heading 1'
            • Enter text 'Head1'
            • Switch to Wiki Markup

You see that two lines have been formatted as the heading style:

            h2. Head1

            h2.

Select heading styles and then typing have been fixed for Confluence 2.10 with the TinyMCE upgrade.

The problem however still occurs for non-heading styles (e.g. panel, code) which is documented in a separate issue: CONF-12980
