Description
Issue Summary
The data table has missing or incomplete header cell markup.
Element:
1) Space
2) Description.
3) Category.
Location:
Above column headers located in table present in the main content.
Steps to Reproduce
- In the Confluence header section, navigate to the "Spaces" link and select any space.
- Activate the "space " link, and observe that a dropdown appears.
- Activate the "Space directory" available in the dropdown.
- Navigate to the main content area just below "Site spaces".
Actual Results
When the user navigates to the table with the help of the screen reader, the table headers are not getting announced while navigating inside the table. This creates a problem for the screen reader users who can't see the organizational structure of a table with data arranged in rows and columns with corresponding header cells.
Expected Results
When the user navigates to the table, the tables need an HTML markup that indicates header cells and data cells and defines their relationship. When tables are marked correctly, screen reader users are able to navigate data tables from cell to cell, in a multi-directional way (up, down, right, left), much like navigating a spreadsheet. As they move from cell to cell, screen readers will read the associated header labels.
