A template is accessible only within a given space unless it's a global template. The only way a template can be accessible from multiple spaces is for it to be a global template. Currently only confluence-administrators can access/edit global templates.

We need the ability for a template to be accessible from multiple spaces but the user does not have to be in the confluence administrators group to add/edit a given template.

Currently we have one of two options:
      1. Add the user to the administrators group
      2. Force the user to put the template in a given space and copy the template to
      any other space.

@Staphon, I have no solutions. I think we're at the mercy of Atlassian or someone who refuses to be bought by them. And I don't think there will be a comparable solution for another couple years. Sadly.

            @william Agreed.

So in that case, what is our solution. Does anyone have any ideas/made any progress on this/ have any add-on recommendations?

@Justice Aluya - No. Atlassian has chosen to ignore it's user requests until it puts them out of business. The profits have been made. There is no lingering incentive to cater to any but the largest customers. They will continue to cater to their cash cows, and people like you and I will have to endure their indifference, until such a time, that a legitimate competitor comes to market, and refuses to be bought out by them. Otherwise they will simply continue to purchase their competitors, and keep us "little people" in their zone of indifference.

It will not change, until we stop giving them our money. Unfortunately, they are uniquely aware that there is nothing else out there that provides the same seamless solutions they offer, in their market. And when there are potential competitors, Atlassian simply buys them up.

Even though you cannot allow non Confluence administrators to create global templates the Blueprint Creator (Advanced Templates) allows you to restrict global blueprints to spaces with specific space categories.

This would solve the issue of copying space templates to multiple spaces or grant users temporary Confluence admin privileges.

The feature is described in the documentation here: https://junovi.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AwCTIw

Atlassian products need much more granular permissions, as we are forced to give admin rights for content-oriented tasks.

Security-focus feature requests should be prioritized, especially when prices increase so much....

We are highly interrested in this feature as we do not want to give admin rights to people that handle the templates as those are in teams and do not manage Confluence. When will it be ready?

            Thank you

Am about to give an engineer global user and site adminstration rights tso they can edit a template related to their engineering area.

Is this right?  Well, clearly no.

            Good Grief!
