NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.
Confluence can be used to store all kinds of documentation. Sometimes, it is necessary to have an up to do exported version of the space pages and attachments.
e.g. We store Disaster Recovery documentation as Confluence pages - if there is a disaster, Confluence is unlikely to be available. Rather than having to have a copy of Confluence available on support PCs and daily backups of the entire site copied across (which can be very large), it would be much better to be able to schedule exports of particular spaces.
Alternatively, the auto-export plugin http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFEXT/AutoExport+for+Confluence makes a good start on this, but seems to be no longer supported, and is very buggy, and restrictred to HTML. It would be fantastic if this was a supported, standard feature in Confluence.
