Confluence needs to create an audit trail for administrative changes, similar to JRA-3157. In particular, it is important to create an audit trail for all changes to users and groups.

I'd like to mention that we maintain and sell a paid add-on, Auditor for Confluence, which provides full coverage for all administrative actions in Confluence in its comprehensive audit log including things not tracked in the built-in log. It's a commercial product we are committed to support and enhance. We also take user feedback extremely seriously and are willing to add features and functionality requested by our customers.

Thank you. In which table in database are stored the events? audit_log table (same as in JIRA)?

Hi adrian.hepworth, thanks for your feedback.
Regarding the IP address, this should be populated for most entries, however, due to the way that User Management is implemented the User and IP is currently not passed into the audit log.
There is a REST API implemented as Experimental which will be moved to production in the coming week (along with documentation)
In the meantime you can experiment with this. An example string as follows: <yourdomain>.atlassian.net/wiki/rest/experimental/audit?start=0&limit=250&startDate=1454936400000&endDate=1455109200000&searchString=
If you inspect the Audit Log page and filter by keyword 'rest', you can find the string for the current results (e.g. if your trying to work out the date code for a particular date).

Thank you Atlasssian. A good start. Now can we have source IP address populated (and visible in the exports) please? Do we also have access to this via an API so we can correlate events within external service management tooling?... then it would be perfect !

I am pleased to announce that Audit Logging has been released to Cloud. You can find it towards the bottom of the Configuration sidebar, or simply by Searching for 'Audit Log' when logged in as an Administrator.
This feature will go out to Server and Data Center in the 6.0 release.
