Non-Ascii character causese Confluence to silently truncate page content

    • Environment:

Confluence Standalone, with Postgres 8.1.4 on Ubuntu 6.06. Client is a MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.4.7 and the web browser is OmniWeb 5.5 beta 2.

See attached file, which I created from BBEdit. This has some text which (I think) was cut & paste from an email or web browser. After the number on line 3 I think there is a non-ASCII character or something. Pasting this text into a Confluence page results in the text being truncated after this character, so the final line isn't saved.

If you remove the character at the end of line 3, the content saves OK.

I would expect Confluence to strip out, escape, or barf on the dodgy character (if it is indeed such) - but not just truncate....
