When user mentions are part of an excerpt display of a macro, the username is displayed instead of full name

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

When a user mention is part of an excerpt display of a macro (e.g. Children Display macro), Confluence does not display the user mention the way it appears when the original page is viewed.

The original page has the @-symbol for the user mention and also defaults to the user's full name. However, the Children Display macro will display the user mentions from that page using the user's username.

This behaviour can cause confusion amongst users because usernames don't always reflect the actual name of the user and can be an ID or random combination of alphanumeric characters (e.g. A1234).

Note: This does not occur when using the Excerpt Include macro.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a parent page and insert the Children Display macro to the page.
      2. Edit the macro and ensure the Excerpt Display setting is set to simple.
      3. Save the macro settings and the page.
      4. Create a child page and insert the Excerpt macro.
      5. @-mention some users in Confluence whose username and full name don't match one another.
      6. Save the page and you'll see that the user mention displays the user's full name.
      7. Head back to the parent page.

      Expected Results

The parent page should display the user mention based on the user's full name so the behaviour is consistent.

      Actual Results

The parent page displays the user's username as the user mention.

      Workaround

In the child page, edit the link on the user mention and update the Link Text field to display the text you want.
