Inline Table Of Contents For Confluence Pages

      Atlassian Team:

We are a large organization that relies heavily on Confluence for all types of documentation - from requirements to customer facing docs.

Often times, our Confluence pages have many sections that require the reader to be able to quickly navigate between - whether while editing the page or while it's published.

The Table Of Contents macro provides hyperlinks to sections or headers on the page, however, the macro is fixed to the location it has been inserted on the page, forcing you to scroll to that location on the page to be able to access the table of contents. In edit mode, you don't even have this ability.

One suggestion we have is to support "Inline Table Of Contents" which basically is a table of contents that stays in view while scrolling through the page - whether while editing the page or while it's published.

For example, given I am editing a Confluence page with multiple sections or headers, I want to be able to see a Table of Contents (TOC) for those headers to the right of the page while I'm editing or viewing the page, so that I can click on a header link in the TOC to quickly navigate to that section on the page.

As a real-life example, similarly has a "ON THIS PAGE" table of contents on the changelog pages at developer.atlassian.com/cloud/confluence/changelog

I can provide a screenshot upon request.

Thanks for looking into this feedback.
