Search terms should be highlighted in pages

      NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Although search terms are highlighted in the search results page, it would also be handy if the same matching terms were highlighted when viewing a page from the search results. (i.e. click on the page link, and the same search terms are highlighted in yellow on the page itself)

      If you're searching for a particular term in a long document, it's much easier to find the word if it is already highlighted for you. (The Google Toolbar does this for Google searches - see http://johnbokma.com/firefox/google-toolbar-customizing.html for an example)

            Technically it's not difficult. The search term needs to be in the url when you click on a search result. This is how it works on the search result page: confluence/dosearchsite.action?queryString=

            Parsing the body of the page can even be done via javascript.

            Already waiting 10 years now, what's up with this feature. Search results and indexing files are nothing worth if the text does not get highlighted or jumps to the right page.

            We have numerous pages with links to external websites. Because Confluence produces search results for the page the link is located on, this feature would be useful. It would help the user locate the external link on the page quickly. Any updates on when or if this feature will be available?

            Highlighting search results will boost productivity when using the search engine. It's a must.

            I think hightlighting in the document is a very important feature. I have to use "search on this page" in the browser now and that is really frustrating especially when I have to explain this to other confluence users.

            I've recently heard requests for this functionality too. Is it possible for the Confluence PM to let us know if this is on the radar, or about when we may expect it? (6 months off, 1 year off, oh-we-might-not-actually-do-this)?
