      Problem

Currently, emojis outside of the built-in emoticons are not supported in Source Editor.

      Suggested Solution

The Source Editor app should encode the characters as required and save without error.

      Why This Is Important

Users tend to use other emojis than the built-in emoticons when creating content on the page to make their pages visually engaging. When using the Source Editor app to view and edit some content on a page where emojis already exists, an error similar to the following is thrown making it impossible to save the new changes from the Source Editor:

Character reference "&#55357" is an invalid XML character. (400)

We've also seen issues where sometimes saving a page also is a problem with emojis present on those pages: How to identify Invalid Characters on a Confluence page and we've suggested removing them altogether to successfully save the page.
