I am not sure there is a good reason to have the field be so small since there is clearly ample space to the right. Many of our pages have names which are way longer than the space available.
I am surprised this hasn't been addressed yet, as I remember noticing this issue back in 1.4. I would think it'd be extremely easy to address too.
