Inspect Permissions does not match user permissions for a space

      Problem

The new feature of Inspect Permissions is not matching the current user's permissions for a space.

      Environment

      Confluence Datacenter 7.3.x

      .

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Navigate to any space
      2. Press Space tools > Permissions
      3. *In the Groups section, click on *Edit Permissions button
      4. Remove all the permissions from the confluence-users group
      5. Press Save All
      6. In the same screen, at the Individual Users section, click on Edit Permissions
      7. Type a user X that don't belong to the confluence-administrator group
      8. Give this user only the following permissions:
        1. All > View
        2. Blog > Add
        3. Restrictions > Add/Delete
      9. Inspect the permissions for the user X (they wont match).

      Expected Results

The expected results are that the inspect permissions shows the following for user X:

      1. All > View
      2. Blog > Add
      3. Restrictions > Add/Delete

      Actual Results

The inspect permissions is showing that the user X have almost all permissions, as we can see in the attachment "Screen Shot 2020-02-27 at 17.34.06.png".

            Not a bug.

Note that there is a very significant bug with inspect permissions not working for nested groups in directories CONFSERVER-59513.

Hi a27140ce975c, I tried reproducing the issue as you described and it worked for me. If you click on the permissions it should tell you more information about why it thinks that user has those perms.

Note that when I tried to reproduce it actually the user is show as not having restrictions permission, because they do not have permission to edit pages, which is actually required to edit restrictions on pages.
