Many users that encounter issues with missing file system based attachments end up having to utilize our python script here:

This is not always an ideal process for users as it requires Python to be installed on the environment that may be locked down for security.

The process itself can also lead to issues, as there are several different factors (SQL queries, running the script, permissions, etc) that can lead to issues.

Suggested Solution

A more painless solution to this issue would be to implement the Missing Attachments script (written in Java) within Confluence. This would help provide a clearer process for users to resolve this issue.
