Description
Problem Definition
When viewing the restrictions on an unrestricted page, you see the following dialogue at the top:
No restrictions. Everyone can view and edit this page.
This would lead someone to believe that indeed, everyone on the instance has access to the page. However, it doesn't take into account any space permissions. Certain groups may have been restricted from the space, as well as individual users.
The subtext does clarify this, but making this more obvious in the page dialogue at the top.
The subtext:
Need to limit who can see this?
Right now everyone can view and edit this page if they've got the right space permissions. Use the dropdown above to restrict this page to only some people."
Suggested Solution
Clarify the dialogue at the top, for example:
Everyone granted permissions to this space can view and edit the page.
Note: Even if I restrict a specific user or group in space permissions from editing the page (but allowing view permissions), the dialogue does not change, and still says everyone can view and edit the page, so we may need a full rewrite.
Why this is important
When Restrictions are easy understand right away, there are fewer doubts on what needs to be done in order to grant/restrict access to a page. Ambiguous dialogue can cause confusion.
