Summary
Unable to Merge Table Cells in Confluence 6.14 using Firefox and IE 11. This is a bug in the TinyMCE library used by Confluence.
Environment
- Confluence 6.14.x and above
- Firefox 65.0.1 (64-bit)
- Internet Explorer 11
Steps to Reproduce
- Browse Confluence using Firefox
- Create a new page and add in a table with multiple rows and columns (eg: 5 x 5)
- Highlight 2 cells (vertically or horizontally) and click on the "Merge table cells"
Expected Results
The highlighted table cells are merged after clicking the button
Actual Results
Nothing happened
cell merge firefox.mp4![]()
Information
- Highlighting multiple cells from different columns and rows (eg: 2 x 2) will allow the cell merge to work properly
- This means after highlighting multiple cells from different columns and rows and then continue to drag the cursor back to 2 cells, 2 of the cells can be merged in this method (refers to the end of video above)
- This issue is not replicable in Confluence 6.11.2.
- This issue is caused by the Confluence 6.14 Editor Update.
Workaround
- Edit using another browser (eg: Chrome)
- For Firefox, refer to the second point in Information above.
- For IE:
- Select the cells you want to merge
- Right-click the merge-button in the editor toolbar
- Left-click the merge button
