As a user I want Page Index Macro in Confluence to render the pages until it reaches the page.index.macro.max.pages threshold

      Problem Definition

When using the Page Index Macro in a large Space with more pages than the configured page.index.macro.max.pages threshold, the macro won't be rendered in the page showing a message as below.

      Suggested Solution

The macro could render the pages until it reaches the threshold, providing the user with some information instead of none.
Also, it could simply provide the summary count of pages starting with each letter and dynamically render the pages' title when a letter is selected by the user.

      Why this is important

This is important for a better user experience.
While the Confluence administrator can limit how many pages are rendered/processed by the Macro, the user can still see content, even on a large Space.

      Workaround

      None so far.
