Issue summary
Page up and Page down key in editor mode does not work as expected:
- When there are no sections, page/up down key moves to the top/bottom of the page
- When the page contains multiple sections, page up/down key moves to the top/bottom of that section users are currently viewing
How to replicate - No sections
- Create a page with long content
- On Editor mode, use 'Page Up' or 'Page Down'
- Expected results: The Page up/down button acts as a scroll
Actual results
Pressing Page Up brought you to the Top of the page
Pressing Page Down brought you to the End of the page
How to replicate #2 - when the page that contain multiple sections.
When pressing on the 'Page Up' key, the user is normally brought one page up with every press of the button. However, when the page contains multiple sections and the user is currently viewing content from a lower section, the 'Page Up' key brings them to the top of the first section in the page. This only affects Google Chrome and pages that contain multiple sections.
- Create a page with 5 sections.
- Insert long content in sections 3 and 4.
- Save the page.
- Edit the page again.
- Use 'Page Down' so your view is around section 3 or 4.
- Press on 'Page Up'.
- Expected results: Your page view only goes one page up.
Actual results
You get brought to the top of the page where the first section is at.
Environments
- Multiple sections issue observed in Chrome, on Confluence version 6.13.1
- Both issues observed in Firefox 68.0.1, on Confluence version 6.15.7
Workaround / Notes
- Issue not observed in view mode
- Use a different browser (e.g. IE).
- If you're using a keyboard with no 'Page Up/Down' keys (i.e. MacBook), the issue is not reproducible using the shortcut for those keys (FN + Arrow key up/down).
