What:

The ability to restrict Collaborative Editing on a Space by Space basis. For example, the ability to use CE could be put in the Space Permissions for a given Space, and turned on and off depending on the needs of the Server Administrators or Space Owners.

Why:

There might be very very large Spaces that are used by many users. The ability to restrict the Space to not have CE might help with server performance for very large instances.
