Description
Summary
Quick Search does not list pages in recently updated first order, despite documentation stating so, it appears that quick search is heavily influenced by last accessed and ignores recently modified. In fact, the most recently modified page goes to the bottom of the search.
Steps to Reproduce
On Confluence 6.10.0
- Created 5 pages in sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, so *5*th is the last to be modified and 1 is the oldest
- Accessed them one by one in the same order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and back to space homepage
- Click on QuickSearch and see pages in reverse order from top to bottom, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
- Type in "page" into quick search, pages are displayed in 5, 4, 1, 2, 3
- Go back to page tree, and access pages in reverse order: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then home
- In QuickSearch, pages listed as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
- Type in "page", pages are still listed 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
- Logged in as another user and edited page 4
- Switched back to the original user and refreshed the page, QuickSearch recent page list remained the same: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
- Typing "page" changed list to 1, 2, 3, 5, 4
Expected Results
Defined and documented order in which quick search results are meant to be sorted as if it's last accessed or last modified.
If there are additional algorithms that can influence quick search results, those should be documented too.
According to Search documentation:
- Items are ordered with the most recently updated first
Above is clearly not respected.
Actual Results
It is unclear as to what logic or order quick search results are displayed in. The same scenario was tested on 5.10.8 and behaviour is identical.
