      Problem Definition

When a user performs subsequent searches with the following steps...

      1. Open the editor for a page.
      2. ⌘ + F (or ctrl + F) to open the "Find and replace" toolbar.
      3. Leave the 'Find and replace' toolbar.
      4. ⌘ + F again to search a different term.

...the "Find" text box is selected with the cursor at the end of the previous search term:

With this, the user has to delete the entire word before performing the next search. This is extra work, and an unexpected user experience based on how the ⌘ + F functionality typically highlights the previous search term in many browsers and text editors.

      Suggested Solution

      On subsequent searches, either...

      • Highlight-select the previous search word
      • Auto-delete the previous search word

Both these options would improve the user experience by reducing unnecessary work. It would also match potential user expectations of ⌘ + F functionality typically seen in browsers and text editors.
