Problem Definition

When admins upgrade to a data center license after their previous standalone license expires, applying the license to Confluence forces a migration to Data Center, whether the admin is ready to perform this transition or not.

Suggested Solution

Allow the option to apply a Data Center license without migrating the instance to Data Center. This would allow admins to use a valid data center license on a standalone instance while taking time to plan for a transition to data center if needed.

Workaround

If the previous license is expired, and the admin is not ready to transition to Data Center, the admin can generate a 30-day evaluation license at https://my.atlassian.com to buy time before the transition.
