Description
Problem Definition
It’s useful for administrators to know the Java version that comes bundled with a particular Confluence installer before starting the installation.
This is important for companies that adhere to specific versions of Java or need to upgrade it for security compliances.
Suggested Solution
It would be useful to add the version of Java bundled with the Confluence installer in their respective release notes.
Workaround
An alternative way to find the Java version on a particular Confluence installation is by checking the installation directory:
We have to first run the installer to create an installation_directory and home_directory. This does not require going through the setup wizard for Confluence.
Linux/Unix
# cd {{<installation_directory>}}/jre/bin # ./java -version
Windows
# cd {{<installation_directory>}}\jre\bin # java -version
