Unable to type Japanese characters correctly from Windows when page has specific combination of section, table, and information macro

XMLWordPrintable

      Summary

A first consonant letter such as "k" goes away when you entered the next vowel letter such as "i" in Japanese IME environment.

      Environment

Client that runs the browser is

      • Windows OS (Tested with Windows Server 2012R2)
      • Chrome (Tested with ver. 62.0.3202.94)
      • Microsoft IME (Japanese) or Google Japanese IME

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a blank page and add elements as below.
        1. Add a section.
        2. Add a table inside the section.
        3. Add an information macro inside the table.
      2. Save and close the page.
      3. Open the edit screen for the page above.
      4. Set IME to Japanese.
      5. Type two letters (Consonant + Vowel)
        e.g.) Type "k"(Consonant) + "i"(Vowel).

(You will see as above when you typed "k". IME is waiting the next vowel.)

      Expected Results

      "k" + "i" should be converted to "き". ("ki" = "き" in Japanese)

      Actual Results

      "k" + "i" becomes "い". The initial consonant letter is ignored. ("i" = "い" in Japanese)

      Notes

      • Please note this symptom is different from the issue CONFSERVER-55177 because it reports that first letter is "auto-committed" while the letter is "ignored" in this case.
      • At the testing environment, it's reproducible only at the time of initial entry on the edit page.
      • It occurs only when you browsed from Windows, and it doesn't occur from macOS.
      • This occurs only at the Chrome environment, and IE11 also has another issue(Cannot type double byte characters in Section through IE11). Firefox works fine.

      Workaround

      • Delete the affected character, and re-type the contents.
      • Use Firefox browser.
