Thank you for raising this issue. While we can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now.

            Thanks again for your idea.

I ran into this issue as well... a link such as ssh://svn.example.com/my-project works, but if I attempt to make a link like this: svn+ssh://svn.example.com/my-project then confluence will mangle the URL so that the href (not the text) looks like this: https://confluence.example.com/svn+ssh:/svn.example.com/my-project

Notice how it prepends my confluence domain and removes the second slash after "svn+ssh:"

I forgot to mention that I am Confluence 5.5.2.

            another well known example: notes://<servername>/<inboxid>
            Still in Confluence 4!

I would really like it if not only RFC2396 was supported, but also custom stuff, like itunes:, skype: etc. I guess it will be problematic with the choice Confluence made about how to link to other spaces will make it hard? :/

Jeremy.... so how do I link to news:comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix then? I've tried fiddling around with the link syntax, but without result. It would be nice if all kind of URI:s (RFC2396) where supported.

            Hi Gregg,

Confluence already supports the linking of pages (see http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF20/Rich+Text-Creating+a+new+link). You can also define an alias and tooltip, which are eventually turned into HTML when the page is displayed. We feel this gives the user a fair bit of flexibility. Is there anything in particular that you're looking for?
