Summary
WebDAV launcher on Firefox doesn't work - "one of the following protocols (ms-word) isn't associated with any program"
Environment
- Operating System (client): Windows 10 Pro
- os build: 15063.608
- Web browser: Firefox 56.0 (32-bit), 56.0.1 (64-bit), 60.2.0
- Confluence version 6.3.3 (64bit Linux), 6.7.2 (64bit Linux)
- MS Office Professional 2010 version 14.0.6023.1000
Steps to Reproduce
- Start Firefox web browser, login to Confluence
- Upload any .doc or .docx document to any Confluence page. Save the page
- Go to "..." -> -> Edit In Office ( choose .doc file created in previous step)
- Install and configure webdav firefox addon according to Install the Firefox Add-On for the Office Connector
Expected Results
- Document will be opened in MS Word.
Actual Results
- Document will not be opened, following error message is displayed "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (ms-word) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.""
Comments
- Error will by thrown for other MS Office file formats as well (for example MS Excel .xls)
- It was possible on the same Environment to open/edit MS Office file when using Confluence 5.9.3
Workaround
- Use Internet Explorer 11
