    Description

      Behavior

The shared-home folder contains 2 other folders called "dcl-document", "dcl-thumbnail" and "dcl-document_hd" that increase in size as we add new office files to Confluence pages and generate thumbnails for them.

      Test

The problem is that companies that heavily rely on office files attached to pages can reach GB in some time depending on the number of files and size of each one.

      For example:
      1) A XLS office file with 1 row only, when attached to a page, generate a 18kb thumbnail file.
      2) A XLS office sample file with about 50k rows and 6MB generate a 18MB thumbnail file.

A office file that contains a graphic can also generate different thumbnail sizes.

It would be good to deploy a cleanup for this folder or improve the thumbnail size.

      Workaround

      1) You can delete all contents of the "dcl-document", "dcl-thumbnail" and "dcl-document_hd", or generate a script to automate the deletion from time to time.

      2) You can disable the "Confluence View File Macro" in manage Add ons. This one has a drawback of disabling all view file macros for the office files and images in Confluence, but won't generate the files in the shared home folder anymore.
      3) Old Confluence backup can also be deleted from shared home folder.
