      Problem Definition

There is no native option to change the behavior of Create button. Whenever button is clicked, an empty blank page template is used

      Suggested Solution

There should be an option to alter Create button behavior, for example, assign a different default template for each space

[CONFSERVER-53447] Allow to configure behavior of the "Create" button

Agreed. Templates will help enforce data capture and quality.

We've worked around this by adding a button on the "parent" page that will automatically create a child page using the correct template. There is a widget called "/create from Template" that will do this for you.

Not sure if this ticket would also be for Confluence Cloud, but this feature would be a must have for standardizing pages in our knowledge base.

This is critical to ensuring the KB stays standardized.  Please add this feature!

We also want to show our users certain information in the default - i.e. when/after they click on "Create page" (without chosing a specific template). But the fact that this issue is already 5 years old here is not a good signal :/

looks like there is plenty of interest!

We too would like the create button to pop open a template relevant to the issue type being created.

How soon can we expect this option?

Me too. I want to add section under pages in the side bar called Handover Documentation and when users click on the "create a child page" it automatically uses a custom template for users to fill in.

Is this issue gathering interest or gathering dust?

Wow 5 years old. Well, add me to list of Cloud users who want this capability like... yesterday...

I too have a similar requirement to force people to include standard information about a pages classification. By allowing configuration of the create button to a specific template that would cure my problem. Ability to disable truly blank template would also help.

this is a really important feature for us as we need to ensure that explicit information is presented on any new pages that are created, and we all know that expecting people to remember to change to a different template just doesn't happen.

Its causing us major pain in re-work at the moment
