  1. Confluence Data Center
  2. CONFSERVER-52266

adding an image in edit mode adds "confluence-thumbnail" class unnecessarily causing poor image to be displayed

      Steps

      1. Upload an image
      2. Save the page
      3. Notice that it looks like it's a really small image scaled up
      4. Wonder why

It's not really consistent but it seems like uploading an @2x image for the first time on a page is showing a really bad-looking version of it on the page (view, not edit). It looks fine in FileViewer and some times replacing the image (select and drop same file on to replace) fixes it.

      Workaround

      1. Edit the page
      2. Select the image to bring up the image toolbar
      3. Resize the image to another size
      4. Resize it back again to the desire size immediately
      5. Save the page

[CONFSERVER-52266] adding an image in edit mode adds "confluence-thumbnail" class unnecessarily causing poor image to be displayed

Hi techtime this issue is specifically about thumbnails from images (not PDF).
If the imagine you upload to a page is shown at 300px or less it will be displayed using the thumbnail, if it is 301 or more pixels it will show the full resolution.
Some PDF previews may fail to be created by the server, thus they will not be shown.

I am having a similar issue in 6.8.1

Additionally PDF Previews sometimes don't render. The workaround for the images is the same as above.

The workaround for the PDF preview is similar:

            1. Edit page
            2. Click PDF attachment to get tooltip menu
            3. Click "Show as link"
            4. Click PDF attachment to get tooltip menu
            5. Click "Show as image"
            6. Save page

Can this be reopened or is there another open ticket addressing this in Confluence 6.8.1?
