Summary

After clicking the Edit in Office button in Internet Explorer, Confluence attempts to open the file in Office applications but this fails with an error message

Environment

• Windows 7
• Office 2013
• Internet Explorer

Steps to Reproduce

1. Attach an Office document to a page in Confluence
2. Preview the attachment on the page
3. Click Edit in Office

Expected Results

The attachment is loaded into an Office application and allows for editing and saving.

Actual Results

The following error message is shown in the Office application:

Sorry, we couldn't open '<filename>'.

Notes

This behavior will always fail in earlier versions of 5.10 and will have mixed results in later versions of 5.10 and 6.0.x+

Workaround

• Use FireFox to Edit in Office
