    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

As a product manager looking to roll out team calendars for our organisation for managing our client event schedule, I need to be able to add some custom parameters to Event Calendars so our users can accurately create events.

The options of a lick list or an external database connection would be ideal.

      Specifically we need:
Client - look up our client DB
      Category - pick list
      Office - pick list

If this isn't part of your roadmap, would building this functionality into our instance void our support agreement?

This would be very beneficial and if I recall is able to be done via Sharepoint which many Confluence members are moving away from.  All you would need to be able to do is have a way to create a custom form.

Why hasn't this been addressed yet?  The first post I found was from 2016!   Over 3 1/2 years later and nothing?  You have a variety of fields that are required, and WHO should be one of them.

We are looking for a tool for creating several different events.
The Team Calendar Tool is really nice and easy for the user. But we do need the possibility of creating customer screens and fields.

The company I'm currently with has several hundred licenses.  They really need to be able to require Who on more of the calendar events. No configuration ability on calendars really makes it not fit a lot of companies.

As we roll out Confluence across our organization, we have received many requests to customize - i.e. add fields to the calendar event form to ensure more consistent recording of event details.  Are there any plans to expand beyond creating a custom event but not being able to customize the related data?

Please make this a priority now that the calendar scheduling has been updated to repeat on certain days of the week(mon-sun). We really need an option to set the "who" field as required. Thanks!

Agreed, Who should be required. More useful would be the ability to require or not require a field. Most useful would be the ability to modify / create own calendar input fields.

The content of the Who field is also not shown in the time line view for custom event types (CONF-49184). This is different to the system event types and should be fixed anyway.

            +1 to the above...

not required who on custom events makes them unusable because in the notification email there is no info....

Here is an example from the real life - HR needs to create a vacation event - There is no Standard Vacation event so it is Custom Event. And here are the issues with Custom event -

            1. "What" field does not make sense - that is Vacation custom event... what other "what" information does one need?!
            2. Who is not required - so HR can easily forget to fill it in and thus create a misleading Vacation event with no person assigned
            3. Even if HR fill in Who that Who won't show up in notification email - so the message will be useless for those who is interested in vacation information.

Just the ability to make the "who" field required would be helpful – as it is, importing the calendar into Outlook is useless for most event types.

For us we would love this feature so that we can help get the users to input the correct information and then we could pull that into another source . setting up the calendar for training room requests we could pull the information out like payment information and configuration of the room and send that to the respective teams.

            Custom fields are very important.
We will use this for a Change Calendar. We will add some fields like: Impact, Approved, add a link to a document in confluence.....
Also the ability to configure which (custom) fields will be used to show on the calendar overview.

We also are finding users are not filling out the Who field when entering PTO. this causes a lot of confusion. The issue specific to this was closed as a duplicate but seems like a different issue then this one. Definitely would help to have it required or default to current user.

We have lots of users enter their vacation dates whilst forgetting to fill in the "Who" field. Later, nobody can tell which person is taking the vacation on those dates. It would be useful if "Who" could be made a required field for certain event types, or have it default to include the person who is creating the event.

We use office presence and home office work and it would be helpful to add a custom event like holiday without the "What" mandatory field to see a bar for each user (in a specific color) if he is in the office or in home office.

            Hi Sherif,
Jira won't work because the Calendar users wont be using Jira and need no knowledge of Jira. We use it only within IT whereas the calendar we are trying to use for our entire organisation.

I think we can work out every field except client, which I want to look up our client database.

Does that help to clarify? Happy to answer any other questions.

            Cheers, James
