Non ascii characters in upcoming events aren't displayed correctly.

      Hi,

      Every non-ascii characters in upcoming events section on the dashboard appear as '?'.
      It seems that this problem is affected by a new highlight feature "Improved Upcoming Events in the Dashboard".
