I like the new additions to the tasks in Confluence. Is there any way to add tasks on a Confluence to a Team Calendars?

      Thanks,

      Ryan

[CONFSERVER-50322] Ability to create tasks on a calendar

This would be useful to coordinate across teams and display backlog.

We could really use this same feature.

This would be great. If we choose to use the calendar, we either have to track dates in 2 places (tasks + calendar) or duplicate entries and maintain both if anything changes.

What we end up doing is using tasks for general work (no dates) and calendar for dates.

I'm going to come in with a "me, too" here - this is the primary reason why we subscribed to TeamCal. We track most of our projects through Confluence, and we also have a heavy convention season March-October. Having to enter deadlines and convention dates twice (once for the tracking pages and once for the calendars) means that we're going to either miss-enter dates or completely miss entering dates.

At the moment, we cope with having to enter everything twice, but if we're going to have to do that anyway, we might very well switch to Google - it's cheaper.

I'm looking for two, likely related, calendar functionalities.

            1) Inclusion of a manually editable "Status" field for manually generated events. Status shows really nicely for JIRA issues; closed JIRA issues actually get greyed out. I would like the same (grey'ing) status feature to be available for all events depicted in the calendar. This would ensure uniformity when both event types are depicted on the same calendar, and also bring attention to any past due items that did not get closed out in time. The manual status choices could be basic: open, closed.
...let me know if this request belongs in a separate ticket.

            2) Depiction of time-constrained tasks in the calendar view. This would help manage the chronological relationships between tasks assigned to different individuals (or even unassigned tasks). The calendar could pick up named task lists (and also task lists based on assignee names). Ideally, the relationship would be bi-directional so that tasks entered directly into the calendar would show up in the corresponding task lists (context and owner driven).

We need this too. We use Confluence for managing upcoming marketing events like Webinars. For that we have a Webinar Template which contains all the information necessary to do the webinar.

There is also a due date. on the webinars overview page we use a teamcalendar, but we always need to add the Webinar twice: 1. on the webinar dedicated page and then 2. in the teamcalendar.

            mistakes are very likely.

Such kind of use cases are quite regular i guess.

If a Task or a due-date could link to a calender, or the calendar could scan a page and it subpages for due-dates, the calendar plugin would be fantastic.

At the moment we're thinking to stop the teamcal subscription, because it's too annoying to add dates on multiple systems.

            Hi Sherif,

Here are the two use cases I'm thinking about.

            1) My team has a space and we've embedded our Team Calendar on the page. It's got stuff like time off and other one-time events on it right now. We also use Confluence to put together project plan docs. Those docs typically have deadlines on them for different phases of a project. It would be great if we could see those deadlines on our Team Calendar.

            2) On the Personal Space side, I like how there is a tab to see all the tasks you're associated with now. Again, there are usually some tasks with deadlines. It would be great to be able to visualize your deadline oriented tasks on a calendar. I guess technically, this would not be a Team Calendar thing.

            Thanks,
            Ryan

Hey Ryan, I'd love to hear more about why you want this. What are you trying to use tasks on a calendar for?
