Macros like the RSS macro and the JIRA issues macro actualy cache their contents. We should add a refresh icon (we have a nice one) to the top right corner of any caching macro, and clicking this causes the macro to refresh when the page reloads (perhaps something like ?macro.refresh=true is added to the URL, and the macros catch that and refresh their content)
