Description
NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server and Data Center. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.
Summary
Pasting images from the clipboard into a Confluence Page does not work (only some times).
Steps to Reproduce
- Copy a file from the web, from a desktop file or from a screenshot
- On the Confluence editor, right-click with the mouse and select "Paste"
Expected Results
The image will be uploaded and inserted into the Page's body.
Actual Results
The image gets uploaded, but is not inserted into the Page's body.
PS: we can confirm the image is uploaded from the Attachments section on the Page.
Workaround
1. Use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+v for Windows or Cmd+v for MacOS) to Paste the image.
2. Save the image to a local desktop file and use the "Drag and Drop" feature.
3. Use the "Insert files or images" button to open the file navigator on the computer. Then, select a file and proceed with the upload of the attachment.
Notes
Firefox 51.0.1 - Drag and drop works, copy and paste doesn't work and brings a sample png
Chrome 56.0.2924.87 - Drag and drop works, copy and paste doesn't work and brings file name only eg: sample.jpg
Safari 9.1.2 - Drag and drop works, copy and paste brings the local path of the file to the page e.g: file://Userdirectory/folder/file.jpg
Nothing relevant on the logs.
Copying and paste or drag and dropping the file from the Sketch editor doesn't work in Chrome.
