The deprecated Office Connector allows users to display files and documents inline, which means that users can read documents in context with the rest of the page.

With the new files preview in 5.7, using the new files experience forces files to be opened in a lightbox, which means it's impossible to view the rest of the page and the files at the same time.

We should provide the option to display the files experience in line. This is particularly important for complex documents that do not render in the Office Connector (and since the Office Connector is deprecated, display bugs won't be fixed because the Files experience renders them correctly).

Does anyone know where we can get the code for the viewxls macro?  We should be able to add it in as a macro ourselves which would give us the added benefit of updating the code to support .xlsm and make other tweaks.

Inline experience AND 'Edit in Office' feature would be needed... Doesn't it mean we should stick to the View File macros, which already do the job? Enough users have voted for keeping them in CONFSERVER-39829

... and by the way, the problem in Firefox 57+ should be fixed.
