Summary

When we add a PDF file to a page using the view file macro the links which are present on the PDF file does not function.

      Environment

      Confluence 5.10.x

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page
      2. Attach a PDF file with links to the page (see attachment for example)
      3. Edit the page and insert the PDF file from Insert dropdown >> Files and images
      4. Try to preview the PDF file and click the link

      Expected Results

The Browser should be directed to the links

      Actual Results

      The links are not working

      Notes

This is not encountered on Confluence 5.8.x or 5.9.x

[CONFSERVER-43511] Links in PDF preview do not work

            NadineW added a comment -

Links to drives are not supported or do not work.
            PDF Link to:
            \\mycompany.in.company.vwg\project_info
Is not invokable in the confluence pdf view

            Concerns also the fix version.

I am also keen to get my hands on the .jar (assuming no version dependencies). We are not in a position to upgrade to Confluence 6 and this functionality is highly valued by our FPOC SD.

UPDATE: I downloaded Confluence 6.1 and pulled the confluence-previews jar out and replaced the existing version in my Development Confluence 5.10.4 instance. Good news, it seems to work OK. Bad news, I assume this renders your Confluence instance unsupported.

            Hi Minh Tran,

            thanks for the comment.

I need a fix for the 5.10.4 version, because we will not be upgrading now.

What files can I replace in my installation ?

            Michael

A fix for this issue is now available for Confluence Server customers.
Upgrade now or check out the Release Notes to see what other issues are resolved.

            Hello,

            Thanks for the fix.

Do you have the fix for version 5.10.4 also (maybe a .jar file) ?

            Thanks.

            Michael

We are also experiencing this issue since an upgrade to v6.0.3. Any possibility of a fix any time soon?

@Leila Pearson I have received feedback from Atlassian which suggests it won't be in Confluence 6 release. And you are correct, this issue is specifically for links not working in PDF Preview. This issue is not for previews not working/appearing.

Note that 6.0 is now officially released too so we may skip 5.10 and go straight to 6.0 if this issue is fixed there and if there are no other blocking issues.

            Any updates Minh Tran?

We're currently running 5.8.15 which is leaving support. Our upgrade to 5.10 is blocked by this issue.

We have links in our PDF documents both to external URLs and to other sections in the same document (e.g. table of contents or "see section x" links). Neither type works anymore in 5.10.8 preview mode but both types of links work in 5.8.15 - with the same document attached to the page in both cases.

Note that I am not seeing issues with file preview not working at all that are mentioned it the previous two comments. I've been able to attach PDF files and to preview them - the links within the PDF file simply don't work.

Files and Images - Upload files does not work.

            1. Upon the click of Upload files it goes no where.
            2. PDF files, png or jpeg file preview does not work
