NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

In Confluence, we can use the Keyboard Shortcuts in order to work with the editor and other feature of the Application. However, when we use the Confluence Preview to take a look at attachments and images, we can only use the keyboard to move to the next/previous attachment and close the Previews.

Having keyboard shortcuts for all of the commands available within the preview plugin would definitely help. Having said that, it would be important that the keyboard shortcuts are listed on-screen (for both sighted users as well as users using screen readers). Additionally, for any controls in the preview pane, it would be good to allow the user to tab through those controls as that is a fairly well used mechanic utilized with screen readers.

This is a suggestion to allow the users to also have keyboard shortcuts to access the other options of the Preview. For example:

      1. 'D' to Download the image file.
      2. 'U' Upload a new version of the file (attached files only).
      3. 'C' to Comment on the file.
      4. 'Z' for the Zoom, out or fit the image to the width of your browser.
      5. 'B' to Browse like a slideshow using the next and back buttons.
      6. 'S' Switch to a full screen presentation mode

Just a note, that this makes the feature unusable for any organization that has to abide by accessibility standards, such as a University.

This type of feature is vital to support vision impaired users. In the days of accessibility legislation (AODA, WCAG, etc), it is important for products to implement these types of features. Without them, organizations will be unable to abide to the legislations.

Great suggestion. Just ran into while looking for a way to open the Preview with a Keyboard Shortcut. A user that wanted to page through a pdf with the Keyboard, but needs to open the Preview and put it in Presentation mode to do so.
