Allow user to pick date of news posting (i.e. be able to post in the past)

I would like to be able to choose which date News is posted under. I use Confluence to post status reports for my team. Sometimes the reports pile up and then they get entered late, but they really should show up for the week they cover.

This is similar to Blogger or other tools which allow you to choose the date.
