The edit in place function can be broken by placing certain macros on a page. When broken if you scroll up, the edit button doesn't reappear until you reach the top of the page. While I have seen this on several pages (and not been able to isolate the problem) I did recreate the problem in the following way.

      1. Create a new page
      2. Insert many lines of text, multiple paragraphs so the page will result in scrolling when saved.
      3. Save the page
      4. Verify that the edit button (and other buttons) reappear when you scroll up.
      5. Edit the page again and add a {roadmap planner} macro at bottom of the page.
        # Save the page
        # Scroll down page and then scroll up - Edit button does not reappear.
        # Revert to previous version of page - Works.

        I have seen this with other pages without the {roadmap planner}

        macro, but have not been able to isolate.

            [CONFSERVER-40608] Edit button doesn't reappear when scrolling up - edit in place

            Happening to me and my page does not include a roadmap planner.

            Confluence 7.17.4 in Chrome.

            Addendum: Pressing 'e' in view mode takes the page into edit mode. However, this is not a workaround, because pressing 'e' jumps the user to the top of the page. This only happens when the Edit button is not available from anywhere on the page.
            I guess that the 2 issues are related.

            Addendum: I just discovered that it is the Fancy Bullets add-in that was causing the issue. Removed Fancy Bullet macro and the bug went away.

            I've found that the "CSS Stylesheet" case is covered by issue CONF-43099, which is closed as not a bug. Please, disregard that part of my previous comment. However, "Roadmap Planner" issue is still here.

            We reproduced this issue on 5.9.12 on Firefox ESR 45.2.0 and Chrome 51.0.2704.106. Also we faced exactly the same behavior with Adaptavist "CSS Stylesheet" plugin

            Have attached a video. The video first shows scrolling down a page that contains a

            {roadmap planner} macro. When I scroll up the page Edit button bar does not reappear. I then switch to the previous version of the page that does not include the {roadmap planner}

            macro. I scroll down and you can see the

            {roadmap planner} macro is not on the page, but as soon as I begin to scroll up the Edit button bar reappears.

            Note: you do not need to scroll all the way down to see the {roadmap planner}

            macro. Simply including it on the page cause this to occur.

            I believe that I have seen this on other pages also that did not include the

            {roadmap planner}

            macro, but I have not isolated what on those pages caused the issue.

            I have recreated this on the latest versions of Chrome and IE on Windows 7.
