      Hello,

It happens to me a lot when I am editing or adding a page, that at the same time I think of a colleague that I want to share the page with. So that he/she sees that I've added a page or that I wanted him to know about this (and future information)

Therefore it would come in handy that in Edit-modus, you can add a watcher, so when you save the page, the colleague gets informed instantly.

I think it's the best place to add it next to the icons from label/restriction. I think an extra icon, in green or someting, would definately be clear to see.

Hope you can have a look into this

[CONFSERVER-40582] Add a watcher while editing / adding a page

Voted to have Descendants notification feature for next Confluence version,  ie. watch a complete tree of pages (a page on all its descendants) with just one click - new and moved pages are added automatically

The approach of adding an @mention for specific users would likely only work for the single edit session in which they are added.

In the use case of using Confluence for a coordinated team task, such as a Deployment Plan or a Test Plan, it would be more productive if the team members were kept in the loop for each edit.

I have been a user of Confluence for many years, I frequently find myself in the position of both

            1. Wanting to know who is watching a page that I'm editing
              1. Use case example: is anyone from team A going to see this team-specific content I'm adding to the page without me emailing them directly?
            2. Wanting to manage the watchers of a page
              1. Use case examples:
                1. Fred said he wanted to know about this, but I'm pretty sure he won't see my edit, so I will have to email him separately.
                2. I've just created a "Feature X Launch Plan" page and it would be more efficient if I could add the people involved in the launch as watchers.

Being able to manage watchers from within edit mode on a page would be very helpful, especially if this becomes available to non-admins also.

Instead of adding a watcher would the same thing be accomplished by placing the folks names that you want notified on the page on the actual page via the example below?

            @<user1>, @<user2>, @<user3>

In addition to the SHARE, you could also MENTION someone in the page, and they will receive an email notification (but not be a true 'watcher')

Hi v.valkestijn. I voted and watched when I commented above. Thanks for creating this. I was surprised to find that you had done so only a couple days before I came looking for it.

Hmm so maybe there could be checkboxes added which ppl you want to notify...?

Additionally it would be nice to easily be able to see who the watchers are while editing a page. Sometimes I'm not sure if I want to notify all watchers or not on an edit. Often that decision is dependent on who the watchers are. To find out currently, I generally open the page in another tab and view the watchers. It would be great if I didn't have to change context like that to find out. Thanks.
