NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

Currently in Confluence there's no way to force a link to open in a new window, besides the workaround.
Cloud users are unable to apply this due to the Restricted Functions in Cloud, preventing added code.

      Suggested Solution

Provide an option when creating a new link to choose whether a link opens in a new window.

      Workaround

      1. Confluence Server users can follow the workaround at How to force links to open in a new window
      2. Confluence Cloud users will not be able to apply this workaround.
      3. An option without modifying code would be to use the middle-click on your mouse if you have a three-button mouse, ctrl-click on Windows/Unix, or cmd-click on Mac. This option will also work for Cloud users.
