When opening a document in Confluence with a # in the title, a 500 error is thrown by the browser/editor. In the logs this is seen as a null pointer exception due to the '#' being translated to %23.
The following is found in atlassian-confluence.logs
2012-01-17 09:29:14,527 ERROR [http-1413-4] [ContainerBase.[Standalone].[localhost].[/]] log Unhandled exception occurred whilst decorating page -- url: /plugins/servlet/confluence/editinword/589828/attachments/test%20 | userName: admin java.lang.NullPointerException
There is a lot more to the total stack trace but that is the start, I have attached a text file containing the entire trace. It looks as though Confluence attempts to open the document multiple times before giving up.
It may also be worth noting this affects office connector 1.18 in Confluence 3.5.13 as well but 1.18 was not available in the affected versions lists.
To Reproduce
